What's on your mind?
Just a few people shy of 200 people on this list. Want to check in to see what's going on with you as we get close to the start of a new school year.
Hi Friends
We’re 8 people shy of 200 people on this email list so wanted to check in to see what’s going on with you.
So, five questions for you (hit reply and let me know… one word answers are fine):
What’s a question you’ve been wanting to ask someone about your math kid but haven’t?
What’s your kid’s “grade level”?
What’s your kid’s “math grade level” / “topic they are studying”?
What do you want me to cover next?
What do you not want me to cover?
On my end, my kids are continuing to work through their AoPS summer classes and getting ready to go back to school. We’ll be exploring a new (to us) math circle this fall so we’re excited about that. We also looked at a different math circle (50 minute dirve away from us) but don’t think we’ll be making the drive this fall. Maybe in the spring?
Reading-wise, I’ve been reading “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics, Grades K-12: 14 Teaching Practices for Enhancing Learning” by Peter Liljedahl. Lots of highlights and interesting things we’ve been trying on my kids. (Sneaky sixth question - would you be interested in reading the highlights?)
Hope all is well and looking forward to reading your thoughts.
All the best,
Sebastian
ps - One of my kid has been printing these out (https://www.polyhedra.net/en/), coloring them, and putting them together. It’s a been a big hit. If you try it, let us know!
